This song was written because I loved latin music, and what could be better than combining latin and rock together, two of my favorite style of music?

(Overall), Most Mindblowing Video Clip and Best Pop Song, where she received the Gold Award for Eyo Eyo. Prema Yin is also being niminated for the Asian Vioze Independent Music Awards (AVIMA2010) which is dubbed to be the biggest independent music award in the world. Plus, have fun doing it! And now, after 5 years of her venturing into the music scene, she has finally decided to record her own songs which she hopes to share with music lovers.

Nominations include Best Pop Song and Best Female Vocalist (Overall). Prema Yin is not only an accomplished singer but she is also one of the rare breed of singer/song writer and has been composing her own songs since she was 14. By the age of 14, she was already writing her own songs, showcasing her proficiency on the piano and guitar.

Rise to Fame: Who Will Win Malaysia’s Topstar

In 2004, Prema Yin’s life took a significant turn when she joined the nationwide singing competition “Who Will Win Malaysia’s Topstar.” Her outstanding performances earned her the top prize, including a recording contract with Syncrosound Studios.

Despite her success, Prema felt she needed more experience before fully diving into the music industry.

They bagged 2nd place. Her EP “Eyo Eyo” received four nominations at AIM 17 in 2010, a testament to her growing recognition in the Malaysian music industry. Nonetheless, still felt the love for this song, hence why it's in my first ever EP. Yeah! Her songs are created from her past experiences, random thoughts, imagination and life itself.

No words can express how this experience has built me as a musician and as a person. With three chords given by my then ex- guitarist for the verse, i wrote the whole song. After the band disbanded, she joined the International Groove Collective (IGC), blending her vocals with the band’s eclectic music style. YEAH!

I was really determined to win! She spent time performing in pubs and joined the world music outfit Aseana Percussion Unit, honing her skills and gaining valuable stage experience.

Venturing into the Indie Scene

Prema Yin’s journey through the indie music scene began with her band “Broken View.” She participated in numerous band competitions and performed at many of Kuala Lumpur’s underground music venues.

The event, held on September 23 at Speed City KL, featured international artists like Taio Cruz and local stars such as Joe Flizzow and Mizz Nina.

Bleed was created when i was going through a tough time in my life. She worked with American songwriter Hope Raney and German producer Florian Reutter on her 2012 song “Prove It To Me,” showcasing her versatility and expanding her musical style.

Performing at Arthur’s Day 2011

One of the highlights of Prema Yin’s career was her performance at the Arthur’s Day 2011 celebrations in Malaysia.

However, it was deemed controversial and unsuitable for Malaysian culture due to its explicit content. The English version of “Eyo Eyo” was later released in the United States in 2011. Prema’s performance was a standout moment, attended by a crowd of 20,000, celebrating the legacy of Arthur Guinness.
