Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, originally named Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, was born into a Telugu-speaking family in Tiruttani, which was part of the North Arcot district in the erstwhile Madras Presidency (now in Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu).
