Rajendar is a talented personality in the Indian cinema, who hailed from Mayavaram, Tamilnadu.

He married his costar Usha and has three children, Silambarasan, Kuralarasan and Ilakkiya. Kuralarasan has committed to compose music in a new Tamil film.
