He was not only a poet but truly a multifaceted genius – a Writer, Painter, Philosopher, Educator, Businessman, Social Reformer and advocate of Indian Independence. He received this prestigious award for his collection of poems, “Gitanjali” (Song Offerings), which was translated into English.
