The Teacher Effectiveness Training (T.E.T.) program was introduced in 1965 in response to parents who wanted their children to be treated the same way at school as they were at home. The T.E.T. Then, in the early 60s, he developed the Parent Effectiveness Training course - commonly known as P.E.T.

Thomas Gordon spent more than 50 years teaching parents, teachers and leaders the model he developed for building effective relationships.

Because he saw that the same model applied to all kinds of relationships, he wrote books specifically for teachers (Teacher Effectiveness Training) and leaders (Leader Effectiveness Training) and designed programs based on these books. Over a million people have participated in the course in 40 countries around the world.

The model he developed came to known as the GordonModel or the Gordon Method, a complete and integratedsystem for building and maintainingeffective relationships.

Gordon stronglybelieved that the use of coercivepowerdamages relationships. Widely recognized as a pioneer in teaching communication skills and conflict resolution methods to parents, teachers, youth, organization managers and employees, Dr.

Thomas Gordon was the founder of Gordon Training International. to their leaders and managers.

In recognition of his contributions to the betterment of humanity, Dr. Gordon was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997, 1998 and 1999. To date, the P.E.T. It spawned the widespread parent training movement in the U.S. and it has been taught to over a million parents in over 50 countries around the world.
