  • Topu made his debut as a writer with the book "Ekti Gopon Kotha" which was published in 2010 under Ajob Productions at the Ekushey Book Fair.

    Rashed Uddin Ahmed Topu, better known simply as Topu, stands as a prominent figure in Bangladesh’s vibrant music scene, celebrated as a versatile musician, singer-songwriter, and composer. This early exploration set the stage for his later success.

    In 2004, while pursuing his studies at North South University, Topu found a kindred spirit in Emran, a fellow enthusiast, and together they embarked on a musical venture that would shape their careers.

    "During this pandemic, we have seen clearer sky, fresh air and crystal clear water as we have stopped polluting for a very brief period of time. The album featuring songs Ei Ki Beshi Na, Bhalobasha Shunechi Ja, Ojana Mone, Ke Daake, Miththey Prem was a hit.

    Topu has three siblings and he is the youngest of them.

    He got married to Naziba Selim on 24 August 2012 in Dhaka. Born on June 2, 1982, in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Topu’s musical journey began to unfurl at a young age, nurtured by the rich cultural backdrop of his homeland.

    His early steps into the world of music were marked by his innate talent and passion, which flourished during his high school years, where he honed his skills in composition and guitar performance.

    Topu’s solo endeavors proved equally successful, with albums like “Bondhu Bhabo Ki” (2008), “Shey Ke?” (2010), “Aar Tomake” (2013), and “Dekha Hobe Boley” (2015) earning him a dedicated following.

    Beyond his musical pursuits, Topu remains deeply connected to his roots, drawing inspiration from his upbringing and familial influences.

    Topu directed and edited the video himself where he's joined by the composer and performer of the song, Rafa (AvoidRafa), who produced, mixed and mastered the song. 

    Topu shared his inspiration behind the music video with Dhaka Tribune Showtime.

    "Mother Earth has given us everything to live, but in return, we are polluting her," he said.

    The song, titled, Prithibi Ghumak, was released on February 10 on YouTube. The single “Ek Paye Nupur” catapulted him into the spotlight, garnering widespread acclaim and establishing him as a formidable talent in the industry.

    Signing with G-Series further solidified his presence in the music scene, paving the way for the release of Yaatri’s debut album “Daak” in 2006.

    After that they composed another single titled "Ekta Gopon Kotha" which was one of the highlights of that album, and this fame and recognition brought Khaled, owner of G-Series to offer them a record deal in November 2005. They are mostly romantic songs and all the lyrics are written by him.

    He started his musical life in college, composing and writing lyrics and gave his first stage performance at Barisal Cadet College.

    While studying in North South University in 2003, Topu became a member of North South University Shangskritik Shangothon (NSUSS), one of the biggest clubs promoting culture and music in the university.

    He holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from North South University.

    Topu's enthusiasm to music began at an early age. Animation artist Timir Deb Nath added animation on the images.
