2018. She did her PhD in Renaissance of Sikh Devotional Music ( Kirtan &  Gurbani ) from University of Michigan.

 As Nirinjan grew up, she remembers accompanying her mother to different events, kirtans, or classes, where her mother would teach and sing.

2009. has served as Clinical Professor of Jain and Sikh Studies (2015-2018) and Acting Director Graduate Yoga Studies (2019-2020). Both parents were constantly teaching Kundalini Yoga.

In the summer of 2005, Nirinjan recorded her first album, “So Purkh”: A special mantra that was often given by Yogi Bhajan to women as a prayer for men in their lives.

"When  we have shown a photograph of a  turban man to american public, only 12% identified the turban guy as as Sikh and more than 25% thought he was Muslim."

Now American Sikhs (white) are helping in North America to expand and awareness of Sikhism. As a Fulbright Fellow she traveled throughout Northern India exploring both historic and modern Sikh devotional music with particular attention paid to the ideological debates and identity politics surrounding its pedagogy and history.
