Khan, known for bringing in revolutionary changes in Urdu publications, flew to Chicago about a fortnight ago to meet his brother.

He made it a point to establish educational institutions in the old city of Hyderabad, where a major section of the people comprise the deserving and impoverished lot.

He even offered to start the school at his residence, at first, and continued to run the schools in old city under the society even when the expenditure for the same costed the society nearly two crores at a time, recollected Mr Javeed.

In his private life, Mr Khan was a spiritual person who would offer Namaz five times a day and recite Qur’an every evening sitting before the imam of a Masjid, who would visit him house every day, until his death.

Former Law Minister Andhra Pradesh Mr Asif Pasha, Treasurer Dr Mir Akbar Ali Khan and others also offered rich tributes to the departed son of Hyderabad.

He was also the chairman of Sultan ul Uloom Education Society.

A huge commercial complex, Lateef Khan Estates, constructed by him, from where the Munsif newspaper is published, is very popular in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad, August 7: Mr. Khan Lateef Mohammed Khan, an eminent personality of Hyderabad, business tycoon and Chief Editor of Urdu daily Munsif passed away on Thursday, August 6 in Chicago, USA and laid to rest after Friday prayers at the Muslim graveyard there.

Mr. He worked towards making quality education accessible to the common man & was a staunch supporter of secular values. But during the last 23 years he came closer to the hearts of Urdu knowing people with his interaction with the public through his newspaper.

Khan Lateef Khan had been serving as the Chairman of Sultan ul Uloom Education Society (SUES), an umbrella body for 22 educational institutions from KG to PG strata.
