Impact Of The West Memphis Three Case

The West Memphis Three case, and his father’s conviction, undoubtedly cast a long shadow over Damian’s life.

Luther went into hiding at Wartburg Castle. In 1519 -1520, he wrote a series of pamphlets developing his ideas - 'On Christian Liberty', 'On the Freedom of a Christian Man', 'To the Christian Nobility' and 'On the Babylonian Captivity of the Church'. At the same time, the case also generated sympathy and support from those who believed in Damien’s innocence.

He came away more disillusioned, and very discouraged by the immorality and corruption he witnessed there among the Catholic priests. Since his release, Damien has become an author, artist, and activist against wrongful convictions.
