The notion of preserving shouldn’t be limited to American jams and jellies, and in this book, author Domenica Marchetti turns our gaze to the ever-alluring flavors and ingredients of Italy.
Food is at the center of Italian family life and I have probably spent the majority of my hours on this earth in kitchens and around dinner tables, cooking, eating, talking, arguing, and socializing.
The cost is $30.00 for members and $35.00 for nonmembers. She is a former newspaper reporter who earned her master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University, in New York. Ms. Marchetti will share stories about her heritage (her mother is from Chieti, her grandmother was from Isernia), how she successfully transitioned from a journalist to a highly successful food writer and cook book author, as well as her travels to find the ever-alluring flavors and ingredients of Italy.
In Domenica’s latest book, “Preserving Italy,” she recounts her travels across the regions of Italy as well as the recipes handed down through her family: sweet and sour peppers, Marsala-spiked apricot jam, lemon-infused olive oil, and her grandmother’s amarene, sour cherries preserved in alcohol.

Culinary Tours and Workshops
I offer occasional small-group, custom culinary tours and workshops in collaboration with partners I know well and trust. Think of marinated artichokes in olive oil, classic giardiniera, or, of course, the late-summer tradition of putting up tomato sauce. My mother is a native of Chieti, Abruzzo.
