Genealogy and Birth of Uthman ibn Affan

Uthman ibn Affan, the esteemed companion, was the son of Affan ibn Abi al-As ibn Umayya ibn Abd Shams al-Qurashi al-Umayyad.

Public Works and Infrastructure

Uthman’s administration invested in public welfare projects, including roads, bridges, and mosques. He achieved and accomplished many things during his Caliphate (reign), some of which are:

1. The expansion of the Islamic state: during the reign of the third Caliph there were many conquests to expand the Islamic reign and let Islam spread across the world.

   Uthman (RA) was known for his handsome features, fair complexion, and soft-spoken, humble nature. Wealth and children are the adornment of the life of this world. To console Uthman, the Prophet offered him the hand of his second daughter, Umm Kulthum (RA). Despite this, Uthman remained steadfast in his faith.

   Uthman’s acceptance of Islam brought comfort to the small Muslim community, and he became known for his loyalty and dedication.

   Known for his immense generosity, modesty, and piety, Uthman (RA) played a pivotal role in the early development of the Islamic community, including compiling the Quran into a single book format. So, Uthman chose to defend Islam with everything he has got. Hence, they would spend a while to memorize a surah.”

   “If our hearts were pure, we would never have our fill of the words of Allah, may He be glorified and exalted.”

   Hazrat Uthman ibn Affan (RA), also known as Uthman al-Ghani, was the third Caliph of Islam and a close companion of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

   

   They used to kill each other for silly reasons or no reason at all and treated their slaves with cruelty. However, the latter years saw growing opposition, partly due to Uthman’s lenient policies and the actions of his appointed governors.

   “Send us the manuscript so that we may make copies of it, then we will return it to you”.
