He is so successful as an author that he no longer draws a salary from his San Antonio church. I will preach in both locations this fall."

Pastor Joakim Lundqvist from Sweden, a frequent speaker at the church, will be taking on a more pastoral role with the staff.

I will have no leadership or administrative role.”

The brokenheartedness at Gateway Church, currently ranked as the ninth largest church in America, stems from revelations that Pastor Robert Morris as a young man repeatedly sexually abused a minor and then allegedly attempted to cover up that information and deny justice to his victim.

That led to the stunning announcement of Morris’ resignation in mid-June.

That investigation is being led by the Dallas law firm Haynes and Boone.

At the recommendation of the law firm, three elders with perceived conflicts of interest have stepped aside, according to an earlier statement from the church.

This series of events has rocked the nine-campus church and drawn national headlines.

Now, news of Lucado stepping in as a teaching pastor has stunned onlookers yet again.

Those trusting Christ should repent of sin, confess their faith, and be baptized (Romans 10:9; Acts 2:38).

Church

The church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit to continue the task of reaching the lost and discipling the saved, helping them become fully devoted followers of Christ (Ephesians 4:1-16).

Christ’s Return

Christ will one day return and judge all people (1Thessalonians 4:13-18).

All of his trade books began as sermon series at Oak Hills Church, and his sermons all begin with Max asking himself this question: “What can I say on Sunday that will still matter on Monday?” He’s been dubbed “America’s Pastor” by Christianity Today, and “The Best Preacher in America” by Reader’s Digest.

Max’s books have sold more than 150 million copies in over 50 languages worldwide.

Max’s books regularly appear on bestseller lists, including The New York Times. The newsletters Max wrote to family and friends while in Rio, along with the newsletters he wrote at his church in Miami, eventually formed the manuscript of his first book, On the Anvil.

Max and Denalyn now live in San Antonio, Texas. He died on the cross as a perfect sacrifice, paying the debt for our sins (Mark 10:45).

The announcement comes seven weeks after Gateway's founding pastor Robert Morris resigned over allegations that he sexually assaulted a young girl decades ago.

Morris' son James Morris was the designated successor for his father, but he stepped down on July 25. I see this as an opportunity to do just that.

Be assured, I am still a minister in my home church where I have been since 1988.

Max Lucado is a pastor, speaker, and best-selling author who, in his own words, “writes books for people who don’t read books.” He serves the people of Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas, and his message is for the hurting, the guilty, the lonely, and the discouraged: God loves you; let him.

As a writer, Max is known for combining poetic storytelling and homespun humor with the heart of a pastor.

However, our ability to logically figure everything out is not the basis for our acceptability before God. Our salvation is based on what God has done for us through Jesus Christ. What we must be right about is the fact that we cannot be right about everything and are therefore completely dependent on God’s graciousness and mercy.

Max Lucado will fill in at Gateway Church through the fall

It’s the church equivalent of the star of one popular TV show making a guest appearance for a story arc on a different popular TV show.

The pastor admitted to "inappropriate sexual behavior" with Clemishire and resigned from Gateway.

Based in Southlake, near Fort Worth, Gateway Church is one of the biggest evangelical Christian churches in the country, boasting several locations throughout North Texas.

These are equal and are one God.

God created the world out of nothing, and by his power, he sustains all he has created (Romans 8:22-25; Ephesians 1:13-14).

    Jesus Christ

Jesus was miraculously born of the Virgin Mary (Matthew 1:20; Luke 1:35) and became flesh and blood (John 1:1-16; 29-34) without ceasing to be God. He lived a sinless life and performed many miracles to confirm his divinity.

Oak Hills Church, founded within the Churches of Christ, now identifies as nondenominational.

Morris, on the other hand, founded Gateway Church as a nondenominational, neo-Pentecostal congregation. His 46th trade book, What Happens Next, was released in August 2024. Another person, Travis Eades, serves as lead minister.
