This has led her to work for a range of organisations including the BBC, (for whom she was the main consultant of a storytelling web-site) UNICEF, UNHCR, British Council and The British Heart Foundation. We can begin to challenge false and negative narratives and create positive and empowering ones in their wake. Her skills have led her to work in prisons, with street gangs, in areas of conflict, in local communities as well as educational organisations.

She has written a few publications and is now working on a series of children’s picture books around the theme of resilience.

Katrice has a lyrical and captivating performance style that she has used at performances in China, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Belgium, Ghana, Kenya and Europe.

Katrice believes that stories helped her through difficult moments in her life and gave her a safe world to inhabit when the real world became too chaotic. Something that could have been very negative has actually become something that I think is quite positive.

I left school with no qualifications at all, went on to college and got a couple of qualifications.

These chemicals enable people to become more empathic, trusting, alert and focused. So, perhaps that makes me a better storyteller. She knew, from this how important it was to be able to own your own story and have the skills to share it. This understanding has led to many positive developments in the fields of therapy, peace and reconciliation work as well as restorative justice.

This led to her writing an award-winning bereavement resource for children, as well as ‘The Evaluator’s Toolbox,’ (a book that shares exercises that enable all people to communicate their evaluative responses) and also articles for the Oxford University Press; to name but a few. I would imagine I was a princess locked in a tower, I would imagine that somebody was going to rescue me, and I would imagine a happy ever after for myself.

And it's only when you start to question that you find out who you are.

Katrice came from a family where stories were alive and breathing, not just kept within books. I really haven't. I absolutely love my job.

Once upon a time, a little girl was born in the belly button of Britain, in Birmingham.

And that little girl, that was me. But she had a problem. I just love it!
