It is the only quiet “me time” I have before my family wakes up. She’s spent more than two decades teaching STEAM to grades K–8 in the greater Los Angeles area, formerly served as global director of the Muse School National Geographic Society’s Green STEAM program and has advisory roles with many STEM/STEAM nonprofits.

If that isn’t enough, Figueroa is a committee director for Blue Ocean Sciences, an organization of scientists conducting high-level research that addresses the needs of the global community.

Recently, Figueroa has become an advocate for STEAM education—adding art and design to the science, technology, engineering, and math equation. Selenite clears negative energy. I enjoy sci-fi and fantasy novels. in Marine Science. Many of my records were once my grandmother's records.

This curiosity pushed me to pursue a career and Ph.D. Her work as a deep-sea marine scientist and educator has been featured in various science documentaries, nature programs, and publications. Dijanna Figueroa holds a Bachelors of Science in Marine Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles and a PhD in Marine Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
