Just yesterday, The Big Gay Jamboree held its Ga(y)la Performance, celebrating the hard work from the cast and creative team behind the brand-new musical, now playing at the Orpheum Theatre.

Based on the 1997 Mira Sorvino- and Lisa Kudrow-led Romy and Michele's High School Reunion (itself inspired by the play Ladies Room), the musical follows two Valley girls who, eager to impress their former classmates, return to their old stomping grounds a decade later with a lie involving (among other things) Post-Its. AT THIS PERFORMANCE... to Return to Green Room 42 in July The two workshop performances will implement several changes made since 2017, including new songs and a refocused narrative on Romy, as well as an all-female band. It will officially open June 15 for a run through July 2. Romy and Michele screenwriter Robin Schiff authored the book for the musical, which features music and lyrics by Orange Is the New Black songwriters Gwendolyn Sanford and Brandon Jay. Cortney Wolfson (Broadway’s Kinky Boots) and Stephanie Renee Wall (Disney’s Frozen Live) co-star as the two best friends from high school. They are joined by Jordan Kai Burnett as Heather Mooney, Michael Thomas Grant as Sandy Frink, Seattle local Hannah Schuerman as Toby Walters, and Tess Soltau as Christie Masters, as well as Kate E. Cook, Autumn Guzzardi, Danielle Kelsey and Michael Starr, Eric Ankrim, Trina Mills, Taylor Niemeyer, James Tabeek, Leigh Wakeford, and Louis Williams, Jr. The show is directed by Kristin Hanggi (Rock of Ages) with choreography by Peggy Hickey.
