Baijayant Panda joined the family-owned Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Limited (IMFA), a leading producer of ferrochrome used in stainless steel manufacturing, following his education in engineering and management.[8] IMFA, founded by his father Bansidhar Panda in 1961, operates as India's largest fully integrated ferro alloys company with production facilities primarily in Odisha and a capacity exceeding 275,000 tonnes per annum.[8][14] Panda assumed the role of whole-time director at IMFA in 2006 and later became vice chairman, overseeing strategic operations in ferro alloys production and related mining activities.[15][3] In September 2025, he was reappointed as vice chairman for a three-year term effective from October 28, 2024.[16]Panda's industrial engagements extended beyond IMFA to advisory and directorial roles in Odisha's industrial ecosystem.
