George Washington: The First President of the United States
Early Life and Education
George Washington was born on February 22, 1732, in Virginia. They are also the commander-in-chief of the United States Armed Forces, meaning they are in charge of the military.
The very first president was George Washington.
Around this time, the American colonies were getting upset with Great Britain because of high taxes without having a say in the government.
The Revolutionary War
When the Revolutionary War started in 1775, George Washington became the leader of the Continental Army. The longest-serving president was Franklin D. Roosevelt.
This is because two presidents, Grover Cleveland and Donald Trump, served two terms that were not back-to-back. They are both the head of state (the symbolic leader) and the head of government (the person in charge of running the country).
