He published his first collection of poems (1801) under the pseudonym Thomas Little.

"Irish Melodies" and "Lalla Rookh"

Moore's "Irish Melodies" were published in installments from 1808 to 1834, with music composed by John Stevenson and Henry Bishop.

His career was not without controversy and risk.

In Historical Society debates Wolfe Tone developed the ideas that led to the leadership of the United Irishmen and Emmet spoke of the ideas that caused him to be expelled from Trinity.

Thomas Moore was born on May 28, 1779 in Dublin, Ireland. Emmet was captured, tried and hung. A poet of wide-ranging capability, his writings often caused him considerable controversy and scandal.

Instead of taking this title, he was able to garnish some important government posts which gave him financial support in the way of a registrar position in Bermuda. Much of the music was based on older Irish airs. Since he was the deputy of Moore, Moore was responsible for paying.

Moore continued to write and earned more notoriety.

During the course of his life Moore created a large body of work. Late is his life he suffered the loss of his five children and his life was further shadowed as he was condemned by many of his countrymen as a false patriot.

Thomas Moore. He displayed much versatility as a poet and his writings range from lyric to satire, from prose romance to history and biography. London would also be the place where Thomas Moore would degenerate into senility, which would prove to be his final undoing. This poet was teacher Samuel Whyte who dabbled in music, theater and poetry.

Moore's parents familiarized him with each of these arts but Whyte swayed him specifically toward literature and at 14, he published his first verses in a new publication, Anthologia Hibernica. Already with an "ardor for the national cause" (1) because of his religious background, his contacts at Trinity would enflame his devotion to the Irish cause.

2 vols. In order to avoid arrest, Moore fled to Switzerland and Italy.
