The King’s Men: Life as an Actor and Playwright
In 1594, Shakespeare joined Lord Chamberlain’s Men, the London acting company that he worked with for the duration of his career. Other scholars note that the term “second-best bed” often refers to the bed belonging to the household’s master and mistress, the marital bed, and the “first-best bed” was reserved for guests.

Family Life
A year after Hamnet’s death, Shakespeare purchased one of the largest houses in Stratford, called New Place, for his family in May 1597. The group built their own theatre called the Globe, and Shakespeare owned a 12.5% stake.

Shakespeare’s Childhood and Education
During Shakespeare’s time it was typical for boys to start their education at grammar school at seven and be taught a curriculum with Latin at is centre.
Eventually, he recovered somewhat and was granted a coat of arms in 1596, which made him and his sons official gentleman. This change of mood may simply reflect the theatrical fashion of the day, but it could also be evidence Shakespeare had developed a more temperate view of life as he aged.

Shakespeare dies
There are no contemporary accounts of Shakespeare’s death, though he made his will a month before he died, in which he says he is in “perfect health”.
Fifty years later the vicar of Stratford-upon-Avon wrote that Shakespeare died of a fever contracted after a “merry meeting” where he “drank too hard.” His will contains some insight into his property.
Shakespeare became one of those writers, though we are not sure exactly how this occurred.
It seems that Shakespeare did not maintain a London household, but lived in several lodgings with landlords and other lodgers during his London years.
