He developed a passion for music at the young age of four when he started learning the guitar. By the age of eight, Garrix became interested in the DJ culture after witnessing Tiesto's performance at the opening ceremony of the Olympics in Athens. She is regularly invited to prestigious group shows and biennials-such as the Whitney Biennial in 2000 and the Venice Biennales of 1999 (where she won the UNESCO Prize), 2005 and 2007.

Amer studied at the Villa Arson École Nationale Supérieure in Nice, France, at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA, and at the Institut des Hautes Études en Arts Plastiques in Paris. He also collaborated with MOTi on the composition "Virus (How About Now)" and released the track "Turn Up the Speakers." In early 2015, he delighted his fans with the release of "Forbidden Voices," created as a token of gratitude for reaching 10 million likes on Facebook.

Multiple institutions across Marseilles, France are currently co-organising a retrospective for 2022 that will travel to the United States and Asia.

She moved to Nice, France at eleven years old and later completed her undergraduate studies and MFA at the Villa Arson École Nationale Supérieure in Nice. Working across painting, sculpture, ceramic, and garden installation, Amer appropriates and reinterprets the predominantly masculine tropes of Western art history. Across her practice, Amer has consistently advocated for the creation of an entirely feminist language of painting in which women are not passive objects, but rather autonomous subjects.

Further, she often collaborates with her long-time friend Reza Farkhondeh. She was the first Arab artist to present a solo exhibition at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art in 2000. A solo exhibition, the first to focus on Amer’s sculptural work, is set to open in the fall of 2026 at the Es Baluard Museu d'Art Contemporani in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

In 2024, the French Ministry of Culture awarded Amer the rank of Officer in the Order of Arts and Letters. He began his career with the composition "BFAM," a collaboration with Julian Jordan. On September 30, 2013, Garrix released a remix of "Project T" by Sander Van Doorn and the Greek-Belgian duo "Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike," which quickly climbed the Beatport charts.

Continued Success and Collaborations

In November 2013, Martin Garrix signed a contract with Scooter Braun's label "Scooter Braun Projects" ("School Boy Records").

She then set about creating her unique approach within the world of painting. He recently graduated from the Herman Brood Academy in Utrecht, a renowned producer school.

Rising Career and Success

Under various aliases, Martin Garrix wrote tracks for other artists, but only one out of his fifty compositions gained public attention.

With the introduction of embroidery into her work, Amer confronted the history of painting by asserting the voices and physical labor of women artists—and women across the globe.
