    Clyde Travis is a sports radio talk show host on WVON “The Talk of Chicago.”  He is a well-respected sportswriter, public speaker, mentor, coach, avid golfer, and tennis player.  His sports career spans nearly 40 years.  Prior to joining WVON, he covered a variety of prep sports for the Chicago Sun-Times, was on the broadcast team for the Chicago Public League’s “Game of the Week” and was the assistant sports editor at the City News Bureau.

    Travis also co-hosted a talk show on ESPN Radio, was a Midwest correspondent for BET sports profile, has appeared in numerous sports documentaries, and was the co-author/sports consultant for the book, Contemporary Black America.

    Travis’ love for sports inspired him to work with youth programs where he made substantial contributions teaching tennis, working with football camps, and running Chicago Park District basketball tournaments.  In addition to working with local NBA players’ summer youth programs.

    Travis extends himself above and beyond with the goal of positively impacting the lives of others.  He is often sought to speak at events and participate as a panelist at events at elementary and high schools and other local organizations, such as Rainbow PUSH Coalition and the Chicago Police Department’s “We Care Role Model Program.”  His support and commitment have been acknowledged by the receipt of numerous community service recognitions and awards including the John Marshall Law School. 

    Travis has been inducted into three Hall of Fames – the Chicago Public League Basketball Coaches Association, Illinois Basketball Coaches Association, and the Chicago Public League Football Coaches Association and was honored as the “Sportswriter of the Year” by the Central Officials Association.  He is a board member of the Chicago Public League Basketball Coaches Association and former board member of the Team Rose Foundation.
