We have worked as daily newspaper reporters, major national magazine editors, and as editors-in-chief of regional media publications. And I always have. With her marriage to singer Bobby Brown in 1992 and ensuing drug use, Houston's career got off track. Even as a child, Houston was able to wow audiences; she later told Diane Sawyer that a rapturous response from the congregation at New Hope had a powerful effect upon her: "I think I knew then that [my singing ability] was an infectious thing that God had given me."

He also produced the album’s only duet, “I Know Him So Well,” which Whitney sang with her mother Cissy.
Masser, who has produced “The Greatest Love of All” and “Saving All My Love for You,” wrote and produced “You’re Still My Man,” and “Didn’t We Almost Have It All,” which became Whitney’s fifth consecutive number one hit. Houston left everything to her daughter, but eventually the singer's sister-in-law Pat Houston became the executor of the estate.

She was hospitalized immediately after the passing of Houston due to emotional trauma but later spoke with Winfrey about returning to her mother's home and feeling her mother's presence. The only others with albums to debut in the top spot were Elton John, Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Wonder.
