Graduated from Harvard University, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Government in 1985, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy in Government in 1991.[2] His doctoral dissertation was titled The politics of inflation control in China: Provincial responses to central investment policies, 1977–1989 (1991).[3]
Career
While he was preparing for his PhD, he worked as a World Bank consultant and associate professor at the University of Michigan from 1987 to 1989.

Early life and education
Huang was born in Beijing, China.[1] He moved to the United States to pursue his higher education. He later joined Harvard Business School as an adjunct professor in 1997, teaching courses in international economics, management, and business strategy.
Huang is the author of the highly acclaimed book "Capitalism with Chinese Characteristics," which provides a historical analysis of China's economic reforms. ISBN .

At MIT Sloan, Dr. Huang founded and directed the China and India Lab.
He remains an active member of the school's faculty, teaching and mentoring students in the field of international management. From 2013 to 2017, he served as an associate dean in charge of MIT Sloan’s global partnership programs and its action learning initiatives.
