Switching schools every two to three months made it difficult to make friends, graduate and to stay out of trouble.
Rap, however, became Eminem’s solace. After being born in Kansas City and traveling back and forth between KC and the Detroit metropolitan area, Eminem and his mother moved into the Eastside of Detroit when he was 12.
His passion for music led to his expulsion from school. Marshall started participating in rap battles, competitions held by rappers to determine the best performer. With a fierce lyrical flow and a fearless songwriting sensibility driven by an audacious sense of humor and a bold intellect, his music has generated plenty of controversy.
Eminem was born Marshall Bruce Mathers III on October 17, 1972 in St.
Joseph, Missouri, and was raised by his mother, Debbie Nelson Mathers, who settled the family in Warren, just outside Detroit when he was 11. In reality, Eminem has always sought respect rather than fame. He won an Oscar for the song "Lose Yourself," becoming the first rapper to receive this award. It was Ronnie who introduced Eminem to rap culture by giving him Ice-T's album "Reckless" in 1987.
They lived in a crime-ridden neighborhood populated by African Americans who weren't very fond of white people. Eminem began rapping when he was 14 in an early duo with a high school friend, then established himself in Detroit's battle rap scene at clubs such as the Hip Hop Shop. It began its operation in 2004 and, in addition to Eminem's own recordings, the uncensored radio station allows subscribers to listen to contemporary rap music, including international artists.
Parody or no parody, lyrics to tracks such as “97 Bonnie & Clyde” (which contained lines about killing the mother of his child) and frequent verbal outbursts about his mother were held by many, outside even the usual Christian moral majority, to be deeply irresponsible. He was also in the news when his mother filed a lawsuit claiming that comments made by the rapper during interviews and on The Slim Shady LP had caused, amongst other things, emotional distress, damage to her reputation and loss of self-esteem.
In 2016 Eminem started another clothing line, E13 with local company Carhartt.

Some condemned the rapper for the excessive profanity and vulgarity, while others praised him for his boldness and depiction of real life. As a result, Marshall found it difficult to make friends, and he retreated into his comic books and television.
