She was the middle child. Amateur
Vickie competed in athletics and started lifting weights in college.
She has been married, and at that she used the last name Gates-Lewis. Those same years, she would also finish second at the Mississippi
Olympia on three occasions. She currentlylives in Arlington, Texas with her daughter Kindra, and owns a gym calledStrictly Fitness.
Vickie startedliftingweights in college, and won her first show in 1984.
She worked her way up through the amateur ranks, eventuallyearning her pro card in 1993 by winning the middleweightclass at the NPC Nationals. She also works for Bally Total Fitness Corporation. She has been previously married, and at that she used the last name Gates-Lewis. From 1982-1984, she attended Oklahoma State University.
Vickie competed in athletics and started lifting weights in college.
Legacy
In 2010, Gates was inducted into the 2010 IFBB Hall of Fame.
