Uwe Kersken initiated and designed the »Masterclass Non-Fiction« training programme at the ifs in 2009 and, as head of content, is significantly involved in the further development of the programme and the supervision of participants.
Uwe Kersken was managing partner of the Cologne-based production company Gruppe 5 Filmproduktion GmbH, involved as executive producer on all of Gruppe 5’s prime-time TV projects.
The aim of G5 fiction is to create an international bridge and to drive collaboration between creative and prominent partners and co-producers both within Germany and beyond to produce fiction programs of various formats and in a variety of constellations. 1989 war er Mitbegründer der Gruppe 5 Filmproduktion und bis April 2014 deren geschäftsführender Partner.
In den 1980er Jahren war er auch als Filmtonmeister on location unterwegs. In 1989, he co-founded Gruppe 5 Filmproduktion and was its managing partner until April 2014. In 2014, he was appointed honorary professor by the TH Cologne.

Graduate psychologist and psychotherapist, since 1983 producer, author and director of documentary films and series as well as docu-dramas, primarily in the areas of history & society and science & nature for German and international television.
1970-1982 worked for WDR, including in the Tagesschau editorial department. In the 1980s he also worked as a film sound recordist on location.
Einige Historische Serien sind in Entwicklung. Several historical series are in development. The partners have been successfully collaborating for many years. The focus is on topics with a historical background, although projects from other genres are also considered.
The first projects being developed at G5 fiction for the international market include the series Alexander the Great with Michael Hirst (The Tudors, Vikings) as EP and author and the mini-series Ellis Island, written by Dario Poloni with Michael Hirst as script supervisor, which is being produced in Ireland.
2024 Screenplay funding for his historical series »Turm der Töchter« from the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW.
About Uwe Kersken and G5 fiction
Professor Uwe Kersken, an experienced producer and executive producer, was born in 1949.
Prof. He also works as a lecturer and initiated and designed the non-fiction masterclass at the International Film School in Cologne, which he has been managing and organizing since 2009.
Uwe Kersken has been working for ZDF Studios under the G5 fiction label since April 2014.
Mit dokumentarischen Primetime-Formaten für deutsche und ausländische Sender hat sich Uwe Kersken mit Gruppe 5 auch international einen Namen gemacht.

An der ifs hat Uwe Kersken 2009 die »Masterclass Non-Fiction« initiiert und konzipiert und ist als inhaltlicher Leiter maßgeblich an der Weiterentwicklung des Programms und der Betreuung der Teilnehmer*innen beteiligt.

Er verantwortet die Entwicklung, Finanzierung & Produktion von Drama-Programmen, darunter »Duell der Brüder«, mit Zeitsprung für RTL, und »Goldjungs«, mit Zeitsprung für Das Erste, WDR & Degeto. Showrunner is Ralph Hemmecker (Blue Blood). The ‘La Senora’, Dona Gracia (The Woman who defied the Inquisition) mini-series, with a pilot and ‘Bible’ written by Gavin Scott, has been partly financed by the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW.
G5 fiction is currently developing several mini-series, TV movies and a feature film for German-language television. After obtaining degrees in psychology and psychotherapy, he has worked as a TV producer, screenwriter, and director specializing in history and sciences for the German and international TV market since 1985.
