Early life and background

Martijn Gerard Garritsen was born on 14 May 1996 to parents Gerard and Karin Garritsen (find out more about Dutch names here).

In 2016, he headlined a charity event in Los Angeles with proceeds going to Fuck Cancer and held a charity show in Mumbai to support the education of 10,000 children through Magic Bus. He has been an international friend for SOS Children's Villages since 2017, visiting their locations and raising awareness. Garrix’s ability to connect with younger audiences while staying true to the roots of EDM has enabled him to bridge gaps between different music demographics, fostering a more inclusive music culture.
