Did Shakespeare Write His Own Plays?
About 150 years after his death, questions arose about the authorship of Shakespeare’s plays. Some plays blur these lines, and over time, our interpretation of them has changed, too.
Shakespeare’s early plays were written in the conventional style of the day, with elaborate metaphors and rhetorical phrases that didn’t always align naturally with the story’s plot or characters.

During the years that followed his marriage, John Shakespeare became prominent in Stratford life.
