She was born in Tladi, Soweto.She is a graduate of UCT Drama (BA degree in speech and drama, 1990). Additionally, Tyelele also received vocal training from the esteemed Royal National Theatre Company in London, solidifying her expertise in voice coaching.

Motshabi Tvelele (1969-) is a performer and playwright.

Artes award 1996 for her role as Thando in the SABC television series Suburban Bliss (best actress in a comedy).
Her voice can be heard in the internationally acclaimed children’s animation program, “Magic Cellar,” where she lends her voice to three characters.
She starred alongside John Kani in the play “Nothing but the Truth,” which had a successful run at the Hampstead Theatre in London before touring the UK.
Motshabi also appeared in the movie adaptation of the play, for which she won the 2010 SAFTA (South African Film and Television Awards) for Best Supporting Actress in a Feature Film.
