I find it pretty interesting that both me and my significant other recognise the art however from different source and perspective.
It was a funky coincidence to find out that these two individual, and favourite artists of ours have something in common. I always seemed to be keen towards bright colours, especially if they were well contrasted with other colours. However I can say for sure that the music he creates is decent, tranquil and definitely unique, for sure worth a listen to experiment with sounds or expand your own musical tastes.
Which is why I thought that It was worth mentioning.
What’s quite funny is the fact that I definitely have listened to DJ Okawari’s music before, I simply have not payed attention to the covers as the music was shuffling in the background. However I am stuck with a feeling of nostalgia towards their older works, that just remained in my head as great as I remembered them when I saw it for the first time.
Back when I first discovered Marumiyan was in the primary school back when I still lived in Poland.
He has recently been chosen as one of the ’10 top artists” on the design magazine MdN (Japan).

Marumiyan is an artist I have followed way back before they changed their art-style to the current one, which currently is enriched with colour, chaotic shapes and in general it’s very much more cartoon/comic-like.
Which I still think that it fits them pretty well. He works with various media, such as posters, flyers, packages, websites and CD jackets. And choosing him as an artist/designer for the covers of DJ Okawari’s albums, was definitely a right decision to make. This kind of music and sound I would rather choose to listen to while studying, or doing something in the background as the volume isn’t particularly high, the melody is rather calm, fluent alike it’s filled with wonders and curiosity- which in my personal opinion seems to fit Marumiyan’s art style like a dream.
His specialty is collage, made by blending photographs and freehand drawings.

Which is one of the favourite details I see within their older artwork, the illustrations had such thick and visible line art of even littlest details that made the illustration seem very detailed, while in fact it does not conclude with much of rendering (colouring), but a couple of layers of colours on top of one another, sometimes blended sometimes not.A little interesting fact that I have learned through talking with my significant other by accident, was that Marumiyan is actually quite popular in terms of commissions/orders for their art, especially within the Japanese Music Industry that’s mainly focused on DJ’s and beginning/raising artists.
DJ Okawari’s music may not be of my favourite genre, or exactly my kind of vibe when it comes to sound or simply enjoying music on daily basis. Which potentially is the main reason I have been looking up to them and their bright semi-realistic illustrations/drawings as their saturation instantly grabbed my attention.
Marumiyan’s drawings have some strong vibe of the 60`s Art Nouveau aesthetics.
Currently living and working in Fukuoka City. It was the time when I was sort of beginning raising my interest and journey with the creative ways of expressing myself, which simply said was art.
