During his time away from London, he focused on himself and reflected, creating songs such as 'Confidence' for his first-ever solo EP, 'Nature's Symphony.' In this EP, he strongly showcased his Ghanaian roots through songs that are truly worth listening to. We still support each other and he’s been with me all through this project.
“I went to the Herman Brood because I wanted to learn more about production, not because I was like, ‘I’m going to make my money with music,'” Garrix told the Miami New Times. In October 2023, he congratulated Verstappen on his victory at the Qatar Grand Prix.

Garrix was influenced by his parents’ preferred genre of Dutch pop during his early years.
He was heavily influenced by Dutch DJ Tiësto after he performed at the 2004 Olympics.
When he was 17 years old, he headlined the 2014 Ultra Music Festival, becoming the youngest DJ ever to have headlined the event.
The Dutch DJ and record producer has also had DJ residencies at some of Ibiza’s top clubs, including Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza. I love my culture and I’ll never stop!
Can you walk us through your creative process when developing the tracks for this EP?
I was literally out in the woods in the Netherlands, writing music for this EP.
I wanted to be away from all the noise of London and Amsterdam, to find somewhere beautiful and natural for me to focus my mind. You can listen to his music on Spotify, Soundcloud and via other online streaming services.

After rising to prominence with his chart-topping single “Animals” Garrix has helped to reshape the global electronic dance music scene, emerging as one of the industry’s most sought-after talents.
Garrix was one of the trailblazers of the Dutch electronic dance music explosion which took place in the early 2010s and he is known for his special blend of progressive house, Dutch house, EDM and deep house.
Since establishing himself as one of dance music’s biggest talents, the Dutch DJ and record producer has been placed as number one on the DJ Mag annual list of the top 100 DJs in the world four times.
With collaborations with the likes of David Guetta, Khalid, Dean Lewis and Dua Lipa to his name, Garrix continues to dominate a musical movement he helped to shape.
Early life and background
Martijn Gerard Garritsen was born on 14 May 1996 to parents Gerard and Karin Garritsen (find out more about Dutch names here).
The song reached number one on the UK singles charts, becoming the first instrumental track to top the chart since Mr. Oizo’s “Flat Beat” back in April 1999.

Garrix says that the support of his parents helped to inspire him to pursue a career in the music industry. He started developing his passion for music when he was around eight years old, and was heavily inspired to pursue a career as a DJ after seeing a performance by Tiësto at the 2004 summer Olympics in Athens.
Last year, I went to Amsterdam for a writing camp and I really loved the energy of the people and the culture so I decided to stay. Then I would save all that money and use it to buy myself an upgrade from the mixer that I had or new equipment — I was constantly trying to grow as DJ Marty.”
As a young child, Garrix took lessons in Spanish flamenco-style guitar, initially playing cover songs and later writing melodies of his own.
Garrix attended the Herman Brood Academie, an arts school in Utrecht, where he honed his music production skills.
Finally, can you give us a glimpse into any upcoming projects or plans you have in the pipeline?
I’ve already got new music loading up so it’s non-stop from here. I’m very focused right now. Some of the brands he has worked with include Tag Heuer, Armani Exchange, JBL and Axe.
