“He was abusive, physically and mentally – I can show you all my scars if I wanted to,” the Uncle Buck star said. He’s so talented.”

Macaulay & Kieran Had a Difficult Childhood

Kieran and Macaulay were part of a family of nine, born to Kit Culkin and Patricia Brentrup: son Shane, Macaulay, Karan, Christian, and Rory, and daughters Dakota (who died in 2008) and Quinn.

He attended the Governors Ball at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Dolby Theatre with his wife, Jazz Charton, before the pair headed to Searchlight Pictures’ Oscars party at Cipriani Beverly Hills.

During the night, Kieran was photographed partying with Eisenberg and “A Real Pain” producer Emma Stone, who the star credited for getting him to do the film in the first place.

When Macaulay and Song were asked if they’d be seeing Kieran on the big night, his brother laughed.

“I don’t know, he’s a busy man!” Macaulay said.

2025 has been a very distinct year for the family as Kieran Culkin recently clinched an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor at the 97th annual Academy Awards which was held on Sunday, March 2nd. The Home Alone star revealed he was filled with emotions when Kieran accepted the statuette, finishing ahead of other actors such as Yura Borisov, Edward Norton, Jeremy Strong a,nd Guy Pearce for the coveted prize.

Also, while discussing his brother’s victory, Macaulay who walked the red carpet of the Vanity Fair’s post-Oscars bash with his wife, actress Brenda Song explained to a Tan France correspondent that of all the moments at the Oscar Awards, the only one that struck his interest was when the Best Supporting Actor category was mentioned.

“[My mom is] just an absolutely wonderful woman who took on raising seven kids in a studio apartment, by herself, Kieran said to the press backstage at the Emmys in 2024. We’re allowed to say that.”

“Yeah, absolutely,” added Macaulay, noting Kieran’s close placement near the stage at the award show. While the former costars refrained from weighing in on the discussion, their respective reactions to their Academy Award nods made headlines.

Strong, for his part, released a lengthy statement, noting that the nomination was “without overstatement, a realization of a lifelong dream.”

“I have devoted my life to the attempt to do genuine work that would be worthy of this honor,” he added.

“He’s going to win, and it’s going to be incredible. I should know,” wrote Macaulayi n a letter in the book titled, “Dear Father.”

Macaulay Has Shown Support for Kieran’s Success

While Macaulay retired from acting at 14, only to return under his own terms as an adult, Kieran became the new star in the family thanks to a game-changing role as Roman Roy in Succession which earned him Emmy and Golden Globe wins during its run.

“Oh s—t!

Us Weekly got an exclusive sneak peek of O’Brien’s performance in the lead-up to the ceremony, […]

When the Oscar nominations were announced in January, Succession fans pointed out that Culkin and Strong — who played brothers Roman and Kendall Roy on the HBO series from 2018 to 2023 — would once again be competing against one another as their characters did on the show.

There we go, I cursed. When Song spoke to SheKnows ahead of the Oscars, she made it clear that she’s rooting for Kieran. You’re really good people. “It was pretty nuts. Kieran and Jazz Charton share daughter Kinsey, 5, and son Wilder, 3.

“I’m a little bit ahead on the dad thing,” Kieran told Access Hollywood in October 2021.

You gave it your best shot. He mentioned that his brother’s victory was just about the only thing he watched.

Macaulay Culkin was not the only family member supporting Kieran on his journey to victory, his partner, and mother of their two sons was equally confident of Kieran’s success during Hollywood’s biggest night.

The ceremony not only honored Macaulay’s achievements but also showed the strong family support that has been an important pillar of his life. And I was like, ‘I’m gonna see you later’ … He was front row,… pic.twitter.com/c5zMcjj2ZW
