His prior experience in the Cypriot top flight with Omonia enabled a smooth transition into APOEL's squad, where he quickly established himself as a key winger wearing the number 7 jersey.

Before him are Efstathios Aloneftis (1983), Demetris Christofi (1988), Konstantinos Laifis (1993), Grigoris Kastanos (1998), Nika Kacharava (1994), and Constantinos Makrides (1982). Aged 20 at the time, he entered the match as a substitute, marking his first competitive appearance for the senior side.[13][14]Throughout his international career, Efrem accumulated 51 caps, predominantly playing as a right winger or attacking midfielder.[13] He was a regular squad member across multiple qualification campaigns, including 17 appearances in UEFA European Championship qualifiers for the 2012, 2016, and 2020 tournaments, during which Cyprus competed but failed to qualify.

Similarly, Efrem featured in 12 matches for the 2014, 2018, and 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, contributing to the team's efforts despite no advancement.Although often competing for starting spots amid a crowded attacking lineup, Efrem's consistent inclusion reflected his reliability in friendlies and qualifiers alike.[15]Efrem's final appearance came on 28 March 2023, substituting into a 2–2 friendly draw with Armenia.[16]

International goals

Efrem scored five goals in 51 appearances for the Cyprus national team.[2]His international scoring began on 10 August 2011 in a friendly against Moldova, where he netted Cyprus's second goal in a 3–2 victory, marking his debut contribution at senior level.[13]Efrem's standout performance came during UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying on 16 November 2014, when he achieved the first hat-trick by a Cypriot player in an international match, scoring all three of Cyprus's goals in a 5–0 home win over Andorra and revitalizing the team's campaign after earlier setbacks.[17][18]In UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying, Efrem added to his tally with a long-range right-footed strike in the 31st minute of a 5–0 victory against San Marino on 21 March 2019, helping Cyprus secure a strong start to the group and improve their standing.[19][20]His final goal arrived on 16 November 2019 in a 1–2 home defeat to Scotland during the same qualification cycle, a curled effort from the edge of the penalty area that briefly raised hopes before the visitors' late winner, underscoring Efrem's role in competitive fixtures despite the result.[21]
