Obama entered Occidental College in Los Angeles in 1979. Then, with Republican Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma, he created a website to track all federal spending. After two years at Occidental College in Los Angeles, he transferred to Columbia University in New York City, from which he graduated in 1983 with a degree in political science.
He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1991.
