Veteran actor in the Yoruba film industry, Fasasi Olabanke, popularly known as Dagunro is dead.

Though, details surrounding the late actors demise are still sketchy, the versatile actor was reported to have died in the early hours of Thursday, June 13.

Confirming news of his demise, popular actor Adekola Tijani wrote, “gone too soon boss!

His d£ath was confirmed by fellow actor Adekola Tijani, also known as “Kamilu Kompo.” Dagunro was buri£d on the same day according to Islamic rites.

Dagunro’s d£ath was a big loss to the Yoruba movie industry. Dagunro Alajiga Ogun. Fasasi Olabankewin, popularly known as ‘Dagunro’ in many epic historical Yoruba movies is dead.

Luqman Nuhu also wrote; “What a sad one, RIP Dagunro.”

Oguntimehin Tolu also took to Twitter to express a deep-seated sadness on the demise of the actor; “R.I.P Dagunro. U made my childhood with ur Yoruba action films. Owaarawi eni o waye daran.

He often played the role of a warrior, herbalist, or traditional ruler, and his performance was always powerful and full of action.

Sadly, Dagunro di£d on June 13, 2019, in Osogbo, Osun State. He was known for his strong presence in movies that told stories about Yoruba culture, warriors, and tradition.

Dagunro, whose real name was Fasasi Olabankewin, was a popular Yoruba actor and filmmaker known for his roles in traditional Yoruba movies, especially epic and action films.

He started his acting career in the Yoruba movie industry many years ago as a theatre practitioner.

RIP’. Dagunro was not just an actor but also a skilled stage performer before moving fully into movies.

Some of the popular movies he featured in include “Omo Osoba,” “Iyawo Alhaji,” “Ogun Aye,” “Ojo Ibi,” “Agbede Ogun,” and many other traditional Yoruba films.

Since the news of his passing was announced, colleagues and fans of the popular actor have been sending in their tributes.

Dr Olu Funmilayo wrote on Twitter; “One of the most famous Yoruba actors is said to have died. Rest on missed u.”

A versatile actor, Dagunro is known to have acted in a lot of epic Yoruba traditional movies including Iboji (2008), Akoni Méfà (2003) and Omo Inu Oku (2001).
