Career Breakthrough: Launching into Music
Solange Knowles embarked on her music career at a remarkably young age, performing as a backup dancer for Destiny's Child when she was just 13. Her influence in the industry extends to collaborations with various designers and her own fashion statements that challenge traditional norms. She later signed on with Roc Nation, a label run by her brother-in-law, rapper and music mogul Jay-Z. Her mother, Tina, is of Creole heritage, and her father, Mathew, is African American. Early LifeSolange Knowles is an American actress, R&B and pop singer, producer, model, and dancer.
Coming out of her sister's shadow, Solange made a name for herself in both the music and fashion industries as a singer, dancer and a model. According to Nielsen Soundscan, the album sold 112,000 copies in the US.
Later Projects
The following year, Solange contributed to songs for Destiny's Child, Michelle Williams, gospel trio Trin-I-Tee 5:7, and her sister Beyoncé, including the singles "Get Me Bodied," "Upgrade U," and "We Break the Dawn." In 2005, Solange appeared in the music video for Destiny's Child's song "Soldier" while pregnant with her son Daniel.
Solange also appeared in various TV shows and movies, including "One on One," "The Garcia Brothers," "Taina," and sports comedy "Bring It On: All or Nothing." She modeled for her mother's clothing line, "House of Deréon," and helped launch her sister's fashion line for younger customers.
