Grier has a daughter named Sherryl Brown-Tubbs from a previous relationship.

After playing on the Penn State University football team, Grier was drafted as the 31st overall pick in the third round of the 1955 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. Roosevelt “Rosey” Grier was born in Cuthbert, Georgia in 1932. He was part of the "Fearsome Foursome," along with Deacon Jones, Merlin Olsen, and Lamar Lundy, which is considered one of the best defensive lines in football history. Roosevelt “Rosey” Grier serves as a member of the Milken Family Foundation board of trustees and as program director of community affairs.  Rosey has traveled to hundreds of schools and inspired thousands of students through his involvement with the Milken Educator Awards National Notifications.
