On August 1, 2011, he launched Al Bernameg?, which gained massive success. Season two of Al Bernameg? premiered on November 23, 2012, with weekly episodes and diverse segments including satire, celebrity interviews, and live audiences.

He joined CBC and helped refurbish the historic Radio Theatre in downtown Cairo.

In March 2016, “Tickling Giants,” a documentary featuring Youssef’s story with AlBernameg, was announced as one of the competing entries at the Tribeca Film Festival for 2016.

Bassem Youssef majored in cardiothoracic surgery, passed the United States Medical License Exam (USMLE), and is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS).

Launching on YouTube – “The B+ Show”
Following Egypt’s 2011 revolution, he launched his first show, Bassem Youssef Show B+, on YouTube on March 8, 2011. Youssef was even issued an arrest warrant in March 2013 and turned himself in the next day; he was questioned for five hours and released on bail. In October of 2023 Bassem’s interview with Piers Morgan saw worldwide acclaim and was shared and reposted on the internet all over the world – it is now the most viewed interview in the history of Piers Morgan Uncensored.

Breakthrough on ONTV – “Al Bernameg?”
His popularity surged, especially among youth, leading to a deal with ONTV. With two exclusive shows in Edmonton Alberta on Nov. 2 and Calgary, Alberta on Nov. 3, Bassem will sit down for an invigorating and lively discussion about politics, comedy, and the current state of the world.

He later left ONTV seeking a live-audience format like The Daily Show.

4. Global Recognition and Awards
Youssef gained international fame, was praised by Jon Stewart, and was YouTube’s top pick in 2013. Bassem can be seen in MO (Netflix), RAMY (Hulu), LIONESS (Paramount+) and UPLOAD (Amazon).
