Midway through the next year he went to number 7 in the country charts with the BMI award winning single, "Y'All Come". In 1954, Duff became a featured regular on KNUZ-TV’s Houston Hometown Jamboree, where “Y’all Come” served as the theme song. They performed gospel songs at singing conventions and school shows.
“Y’all Come,” released in 1953, climbed to No. 7 on the country charts and went on to inspire countless covers by artists including George Jones, Loretta Lynn, Bing Crosby, Patti Page, and Bobby Vinton.
Duff coached and taught in Deweyville and Warren, Texas, where he adopted the nickname "The Singin' Schoolteacher." Duff released as his fourth single for the Beaumont based Starday label, the song "Y'all Come" (1953) went to the seventh slot on the country music charts and spawned countless renditions by other artists, including George Jones, Loretta Lynn, Bing Crosby, Patti Page, and Bobby Vinton.

English teacher-turned-songwriter Arlie Duff showed an interest in music at an early age.
He wrote Ernest Tubb's last solo hit, "Another Story", which went to number 16 in the country charts in 1966. Duff continued to write hits throughout the fifties, including "Another Story" recorded by Ernest Tubb, "It's the Little Things" for Sonny James, and "Alligator Came Across," a minor hit recorded under his own name.

Arleigh Elton Duff was born in Jack's Branch near Warren, Texas and recorded with his Western Cherokees for Starday in 1952.
After graduation, he served for three years in the Navy during World War II. Returning from the war, he attended Stephen F. Austin State College in Nacogdoches, Texas, earning a master's in education. It sounds a lot like the early rocking catalogue of George Jones. The parody of Elvis halfway through is a classic, but all too brief moment of madness.
He spent years as a DJ in Colorado and Texas. Later that year, he performed on The Louisiana Hayride and joined the cast of Red Foley's Ozark Jubilee. Also "It's The Little Things", , a # 1 C&W hit for Sonny James in 1967. Born in Jacks Branch, near Warren, TX, he began singing with his father and sister Lois as The Duff Trio.
Duff went on to teach and coach in Deweyville and Warren, Texas, earning the nickname “The Singin’ Schoolteacher.”
