Aderemi Muyinudeen Makanjuola, also known as Remi, serves as the Chairman of Caverton Offshore Support Group Plc.

He is a seasoned banking professional with over two decades exposure to the challenges in the Nigeria financial landscape. He held this position until 2015. It has taken advantage of local content policies, which encourage Nigerian companies to participate more in the oil and gas industry.

He was later appointed Consultant at Equitorial Trust Bank in 1999.

Makanjuola is married to Lateephat Yoyinsola Makanjuola[3], an educationist and they have four children including Niyi, Bode[4], Rotimi.[5] and Lolade.[6]

Career

Makanjuola began his banking career as a member of the National Youth Service Corps in 1977, he was deployed to the Kano branch of Union Bank of Nigeria from December 1977 to November 1978.

Following his retirement from Devcom Merchant Bank in 1999, Mr Aderemi Makanjuola went on to set up his businesses, including Le Global Oilfield Services, Caverton Marine Limited and Caverton Helicopters Limited respectively – inviting his children as Directors and staff of these companies whilst holding the position of Executive Chairman.

Aderemi Makanjuola, a distinguished Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, was born on November 24th, 1948, in Lagos, Nigeria. In 2007, the then Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola appointed Mr Aderemi Makanjuola as Chairman of the then newly established Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSTTF)[7] in response to the challenges of security and to the realization that the huge demands of security can no longer be met by government alone.

Mr. He served in several positions between 1977 and 1989 including Head office Manager (Advances) in the organization. He also donated advanced Molecular Biology Diagnostic Laboratories to Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM) and Edo State University, Uzairue, showcasing his dedication to advancing education and healthcare.

Makanjuola was conferred with the National Honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) by President Muhammadu Buhari in October 2022. He joined Devcom Merchant Bank as Assistant general Manager in May 1989. He went on to later work with the Bank in the following positions:

  • Sub-Manager, Ikeja Branch between July and December 1983
  • Assistant Manager, Ikeja Branch between July 1983 and December 1984
  • Deputy Manager (Recruitment and Manpower Planning) between January 1985 and August 1986
  • Senior Area Advances Manager, Isolo Area between September 1986 and June 1988
  • Head Office Manager (Advances) between June 1988 and April 1989.

He joined DEVCOM Merchant Bank as the Assistant General Manager in 1989 and later became the Bank's Executive Vice-Chairman from 1994 to 1999.

He was appointed Chancellor of Edo State University, Uzairue, in 2019, where his commitment to education has been evident through his donations of 500-seater lecture theatres to three universities in Nigeria—Federal University of Technology Minna, Summit University Offa, and Lagos State University (LASU). He hails from the Lagos Island Local Government Area and has built an impressive career marked by notable achievements.

In 2014, he was appointed Chairman of International Commercial Bank Senegal, S.A., part of the ICB Banking Group with a presence across Asia, Europe, and Africa. 

Since it started, Caverton Marine has become one of the top local oil field service companies in Nigeria.

At Devcom, he served as General Manager, Executive Director and Executive Vice Chairman from 1994 to 1999.

Caverton Marine has grown its service abilities by learning from international offshore experiences through its partners, focusing on using local resources and aiming to lead in marine logistics in Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa.
