After passing the exam, Mangu Singh joined the Indian Railway Service as Engineers in 1983.

While working for the organization, Mangu Singh held various roles in the following departments: procurement, planning, as well as operations.

Mangu Singh served as the Deputy Chief Engineer of the Kolkata Metro Railway during the years 1989-96, during which he not only contributed significantly to the development of the Kolkata Metro but also brought about radical changes in metro engineering projects across the country, including Mumbai.

Singh received his early education from his native place and later graduated in civil engineering from University of Roorkee (now IIT Roorkee) in 1979 . He is an Indian Railways Service of Engineers (IRSE) officer of the 1981 batch.

Biography of Mangu Singh

It was in 1997 that Mangu Singh was appointed to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation at its inception and since then has played an integral role in setting up the Delhi Metro line.

Mangu Singh is also the head of several projects under Delhi Metro including Clean Development Mechanism projects.

In recognition of his dedication and perseverance in the successful implementation of the Kolkata Metro, Mangu Singh was awarded the National Railway Week Award in 1996.

In addition, he was awarded a distinguished award as an alumnus at the Global Meet Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee in 2007 as a role model for graduates from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee.

In recognition of his extensive knowledge in underground construction, Mangu Singh was awarded The Engineer of the Year prize by the Indian Institution of Engineers in 2012 and is recognized as one of the best engineers in India today.

Mangu Singh's life story is an inspiration not only to engineers everywhere but to everyone in life.

And this is an important lesson that all youngsters can learn from Mangu Singh.
