Early Career at Guadalajara

Javier "Chicharito" Hernández began his football journey at Club Deportivo Guadalajara, affectionately known as "Chivas," at the tender age of nine.

Despite initially considering retiring due to a lack of playing time, he persevered and made his debut for the first team in 2006. This is his fascinating story.

His debut Premier League goal came against Newcastle United in August 2010, followed by his maiden Champions League goal against Valencia later that month.

Notable Season at Manchester United

Hernández enjoyed a remarkable first season with United.

He continued to showcase his goalscoring prowess, netting 16 goals in the 2017/18 season.

International Career

Hernández made his debut for the Mexico national team in 2009. Despite scoring several important goals, including the decisive strike against Atlético Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final, he failed to establish himself as a regular starter.

Stint at Bayer Leverkusen

After his loan spell at Real Madrid, Hernández signed a permanent deal with Bayer Leverkusen in July 2015.

He quickly made an impact, scoring his first goal in a pre-season friendly against the MLS All-Stars.

Notably, he became the first player to represent three generations of his family in the World Cup when his grandfather and father also played in the prestigious competition.

In addition to his club and international achievements, Hernández has received numerous individual accolades, including the Mexican National Player of the Year and the Bundesliga Player of the Season.

The name Chicharito means "Little Pea" in Spanish. Since then, Hernandez has continued to light up the Old Trafford pitch, becoming a firm favourite with fans (who voted him Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year in 2011) and scoring vital goals for the club. In the following seasons, he gradually gained prominence, scoring 11 goals in the Apertura 2009 tournament.

Transfer to Manchester United

Hernández's impressive performances caught the attention of Manchester United, and he signed for the English giants in April 2010.

He has been a key player for his country, scoring over 50 goals and participating in multiple World Cups and Copa América tournaments. Still only 24 years old, the 'little pea' has committed himself to United until 2016 and looks set to help the Reds to yet more glory.
