Talha served them with great hospitality and generosity. The Prophet, peace be upon him, then commented, "Talha has earned Paradise," meaning he was guaranteed a place in Paradise.

Due to his exceptional courage and sacrifice on that day, Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, used to say when the Battle of Uhud was mentioned, "All of that day was the day of Talha." It is also reported that Talha sustained over seventy wounds on that day.

Virtues of Talha ibn Ubaidullah

Talha ibn Ubaidullah, may Allah be pleased with him, held a significant position in Islamic history.

The following story is related by Masud ibn Kharash:

"While I was making saiy between as-Safa and al-Marwa, there appeared a crowd of people pushing a young man whose hands were tied behind his back. I asked: 'What's the matter with this young man?' 'This is Talhah ibn Ubaydullah. "What about all the needy ones in your community and all your friends?

Once, during these persecutions, Nawfal ibn Khuwaylad tied Talha to Abu Bakr and left them roped together. Talhah and Zubayr were deeply shocked by the murder of Uthman. His wives included:

• Hamnah bint Jahsh – Sister of Zaynab bint Jahsh (the Prophet’s wife). About this occasion Abu Bakr said:

  "At that moment, Abu Ubayd ibn al-Jarrah and I were far from the Prophet.

  One of the clearest examples of his bravery was during the Battle of Uhud, where he fought fiercely and remained firmly by the Prophet’s side, defending him with everything he had. The Prophet, peace be on him, shouted:

  "The one who repulses these people from us will be my companion in Paradise." "I, O Messenger of god," shouted Talhah.

  "No, stick to your position," replied the Prophet.

  The Prophet’s Statement About Talha

  The Prophet ﷺ once said about Talha:

  "Whoever wants to see a martyr walking on the earth, let him look at Talha ibn Ubaidullah."
  (Al-Hakim in al-Mustadrak – Sahih)

  4. When we came close to him to render assistance to him, the Prophet said: 'Leave me and go to your companion (meaning Talhah)."

  There was Talhah, bleeding profusely.

  The Prophet ﷺ said: "Five daily prayers..." and he mentioned the hadith of the pillars of Islam. He fought until he was killed.

  

  He used every means at his disposal to achieve peace. Prophet Muhammad did not reply him. Talha was severely injured in this battle and fainted due to blood loss. The Prophet, peace be on him, explained Islam to Talhah and recited some portions of the Quran to him. ²² Whenever one of the idolaters approached Prophet Muhammad , Talha fought him off and safely took Prophet Muhammad to the gorge.

  The seeds of trouble were sown during the caliphate of Uthman ibn Affan. She was greatly shocked when she heard of the assassination of Uthman. It was due to the endless generosity of Talha that Prophet Muhammad gave him the title of “Talha Al-Khair” (Talha, of goodness and bounty) and “Talha Al-Fayyadh (Talha the Generous)”.
