He was the recipient of multiple awards such as I.A.P.A.A. The late artist drew inspiration from two spiritualists- Bikham Giri, a Bengali Tantric-Vajrayan yogi and Ahmed Ali Shah Qadri, a sufi.

The yogi, painter and poet has developed his own signature style that he adapted across his artwork. Often abandoning conventional paint mediums, Qadri is known to create ink and dye works on serrated paper that recurrently evoke the rich colours such as ochre, blue, crimson and saffron.

In the process, the paper was transformed from a flat, two-dimensional surface into a three-dimensional medium. Qadri’s lush & transcendent works of dye on paper recall the palette, and spiritual cornucopia of India, Qadri’s homeland. The rhythmic movements of ‘colour energies’ are conveyed within the repeated patterns of dots and striations that undulate across the paper.

In 1965, he left India and began a series of travels that took him to East Africa, North America, Paris and Zurich.

Settling in Copenhagen, Mr. Qadri participated in more than forty one-man shows, in Bombay, Vienna, Brussels, London, Oslo, Stockholm, Montreal, Toronto, Los Angeles and New York. The rippled sheets of papers have an almost three-dimensional appearance. Due to this hybrid marriage of tantric imagery and late modernist minimalism in his works, Qadri earned him the title of the "Tantric yogi artist" from Francis Newton Souza.

Qadri has held over 40 solo shows across the globe and over a hundred group exhibitions in India and around the world, including the United States, Europe, Asia, Africa and Austria.

His works have been included in numerous collections, including those of The Peabody Essex Museum- Massachusetts; The Rubin Museum of Art- New York; The National Gallery of Modern Art- New Delhi, The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, California, The Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto; as well as the private collections in Cologne, New York, Salem, New Jersey, Paris and India.
