Among his ancestors was the rabbinical scholar Abraham de Boton. In 1996, de Botton presented sixty works of art to Tate, including examples by Carl Andre, Richard Artschwager, Gilbert & George, Richard Long, Cindy Sherman, Roni Horn, Gary Hume, Nancy Spero, Andy Warhol and Bill Woodrow.

Towards the end of last century, Janet learned bridge and became a player who participated international level.

Driven initially by David Parry, she was dedicated to rubber bridge before making her entrance into competitive bridge.

Janet, who does not love women's competition and who prefers open Bridge, has won the Spring Fours, the prestigious Gold Cup and the Crockford's Cup.

In the international field she has won two bronze medals at consecutive European Open Championships in the mixed team in 2007 and 2009.

Legacy

In 2003, GAM and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) announced the creation of the GAM Gilbert de Botton Award in Finance Research, an annual award given in recognition of outstanding research in finance, in honour of Gilbert de Botton.[9]

He was also known as a scholar of Montaigne; his collection of books now comprises "The Montaigne Library" at the Cambridge University Library in the UK.[10]
