One can reach Loai Dandi after a tough hike of around 2/3 hours. Approach to the shrine is the main highway between Murree and Islamabad near Lake view Park. Like his brothers, he was also an avid reader and author of two books. It was here that countless devotees received the initiation into the Naqshbandiyya silsila. After his return to the native country, Shah Abdul Latif rejoined his father to work as a farmer.
Driving through a stream of garbage-strewn lanes and filthy roadside eateries, I forced myself to walk into the Saint’s complex.
Then magic happened!
I saw an imposing, well-designed mosque-like complex looking majestic in the backdrop of Margalla hills. This renovated Saints complex and religious school is styled on Masjid e Nabvion the outside and likeCordoba mosque on the inside.
Towards left from the main entrance is the resting place of Bari Imam’s disciples and companions – four in total.
As Islamabad began to expand and modernize, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) initiated a series of developments that led to the relocation of many residents from Mastal Sharif to make way for new urban sectors. He dedicated his entire life to preaching and reading, and a rare collection of books in his library showcases his literary taste and indicates how well-read he was.
Shah Abdul Latif used to help his father in some activities like looking after the animals to graze in the fields and forests.
Syed Mehmood Shah along with his family migrated to Baghan Village, now Aabpara Islamabad. They pay regular visits to the shrine, especially during Urs or Mela which is around May to June every year.
From morning till night people come to offer Fatiha at the grave of Bari Sarkar.
Lots of educated men and women thronged to the place and prayed for inner peace.
Then I saw the most exquisite geometrical patterns on the inner side of the top dome, just over the Banyan Tree.
Why do devotees come to Saint Bari Sarkar’s Shrine?
People look for any hope of gaining solace and grab on to it tightly, expecting a miracle.
I am all for things that give peace and solace to the tormented, but I wonder wouldn’t have been a better tribute to the ascetic, to build a university & medical facility in this massive complex too?
Bari Imam Chilla Gah
An hour’s hike behind this complex, a little higher on the Margalla hills, is the meditation retreat of Bari Imam – Lohi Dandi.
Story of Bari Imam Chilla Gah
Legend has it that Bari Sahib’s mediation at Lohi Dandi was disturbed by Jinns & witches, which the saint turned into stone – the image of which is still there to see.
Height of Bari Chilla Gah
The Chilla Gah is about 100 meters height in total but it takes 2 hours to get there on a easy incline and cemented steps
Steps to Bari Imam Chilla Gah
there are more than 100 steps to reach the meditation site of Bari Imam in the Margalla Hills
Gaddi Nashin of Bari Imam Sarkar
Pir Haider Ali Shah is the Gaddi Nasheen of Bari Imam nowadays.
Further behind, right over the first ridge of Margalla hills, is the deeper mediation site of Nilan Bhotu; a peaceful place, with fishes in the stream.
Here too is a ‘Sanda pathar’ (Oxen Rock) that is said to be the remains of an animal disturbing the Saint’s peace.
I don’t know if this kind of Saintly devotion has the strength to maintain the same order.
I hope our leaders get the idea and start delivering.

According to him, Khwaja Muhammad Amin had friendly relationships with several Sufi saints of his time, including the renowned Chishti saint Pir Mehar Ali Shah Golarvi (d.His son, Sahibzada Muhammad Aghar Ali Naqshbandi, succeeded him. He preached the message of unity and brotherhood, and believed in the power of prayer and meditation as a means of connection with the Divine.
Bari Imam’s spiritual teachings attracted a large number of followers, and he became known for his healing powers and ability to perform miracles.
One learns from Gujar Khan Ke Suhrawardi Mashaikh by Hasan Nawaz Shah (2013:42) that Khwaja Shaikh Ahmad Ji Usmani came to Gujar Khan’s Bher Ratial village, where he met Khwaja Muhammad Namdar for the first time there. This transformation marked a significant shift in the community's landscape, yet the spiritual essence of the place endured.
Devotees and followers of Imam Bari are in millions and are from all across the country. Beside the tomb are the hujra (room) of Khwaja Muhammad Abdul Ali and a library that was initially established by Khwaja Muhammad Amin. He, too, was buried in Mastal Sharif. Its a long walking trail on Margalla hills and is a bit difficult one. Shah also went on pilgrimage to holy cities of Makkah and Madina to perform Hajj.
He was a deputy of Khwaja Muhammad Namadar, who himself was a deputy of Khwaja Noor Muhammad Churahi, whose shrine is located in Chura Sharif.
