Typically, Hammond and Radical for Christ spent about 30 weeks of each year touring throughout the decade. His own album releases have been accompanied by extensive promotional work to encourage urban radio stations to begin playing Contemporary Christian music. The 1998 release Pages of Life: Chapters 1 and 2, however, was Hammond's greatest success to date.
Over the years, he went on to produce several other incredible specialty projects including his Jazz album Grandad Turner, the project dedicated to love, relationships, and marriage–God, Love, and Romance, and the formation of the United Tenors—an incredible, relevant yet nostalgic presentation of the ultimate, modern-day quartet with hit after hit, earning several stellar awards and nominations in 2013.

Hammond has taken his creative savvy to a higher level moving into from the stage to the big screen with the movie, The Gospel. "It feels now that people are starting to get into praise and worship. His first film adventure, "Christmas… Who Needs It" written by Hammond and Pam Kenyon M. Donald, came out ahead of the pack at the 2009 Hollywood Black Film Festival.
The group released a series of albums in the 1980s with a sound and style that differed little from the contemporary sounds of urban-oriented music, aside from its Christian-themed lyrics. His sophomore solo effort, Deliverance, arrived in 1993 and his releases with Radical for Christ, 1995's Inner Court and 1996's The Spirit of David, sold about 350,000 combined copies.
He has worked on over 80 albums since establishing his own production company, Face to Face, in 1992. He has also taken his music to thousands of fans by keeping up a busy touring schedule. Since their inception, Hammond has served as producer on more than 100 album projects, racking up numerous awards and nominations including the Grammy, BET, N.A.A.C.P.

Background and Age
Fred Hammond was born on December 27, 1960, in San Antonio, TX. He was raised in the city of Detroit. Hammond hoped his actions would inspire others to serve the children of their own communities. To create the Commissioned Reunion Live CD in 2002, Hammond rejoined the band Commissioned, which now included Keith Staten, Marvin Sapp, Mitchell Jones, Karl Reid, Michael Williams, and Marcus Cole.
Chanté Moore and Kenny Lattimore’s 2006 double-CD of gospel and R&B love songs, Uncovered/Covered (released October 10, 2006, by LaFace/Verity/Zomba Music Group), featured “Make Me Like the Moon,” a gospel ballad that was co-written by both of them.

Since the early 1980s, Fred Hammond has been a well regarded figure on the Contemporary Christian music scene, first with his group Commissioned and later as a solo artist with his own touring choir, Radical for Christ. That's my musical heritage. Although the chubby, middle-aged entertainer was an unlikely leading man, he also hoped to get a movie career off the ground.
