iTunes has released today the original off-Broadway cast recording of John Dempsey & Dana P.
Rowe's production of Zombie Prom. It was at a gig with them there they he met John Tesar, who wrote lyrics for Tommy throughout his career. The very blue collar Bolin family did all they could for Tommy, including buying him his first guitar, the obligatory Sears Silver-tone. I'm eternally grateful to him.
Nat, along with Coconut Management's Danny Fields and the late Linda Stein, gave me my start with 'Alive on Arrival,' which I recorded for his label, Nemperor Records.
For the last couple of years, due to severe knee and then back problems, he wasn't able to get out and about, and so has been missed, in that sense, by many people for a while now.
That Tommy was in Nat‘s circle speaks to Tommy’s brilliance. At age five (!) Rich, took him to see Elvis Presley LIVE and Tommy's path, as it turns out, was set. After leaving Patch of Blue, Tommy gigged with The Chateaux, based in Vermillion, South Dakota, where he met their drummer, Bobby Berge. Neither his age nor the cause of death was disclosed.
The news comes via the Examiner, but the news was announced by singer-songwriter Steve Forbert, who had a No.
11 hit in 1980 with 'Romeo's Tune.' Forbert wrote the following on his Facebook page, which he posted with the above picture:

Tommy Bolin was born to Barb and Rich Bolin in Sioux City, Iowa, August 3 1951. 
The news was announced then by singer-songwriter Steve Forbert, who had a No. 11 hit in 1980 with 'Romeo's Tune.' Forbert wrote the following on his Facebook page, which he posted with the above picture:

Weiss passed away Wednesday night in New York City.
Nat Weiss was indisputably one of the all-time greats of the real music business -- a person whom one would consider themselves very lucky to have known and very lucky to have worked with.
Nat Weiss, a music-business lawyer who ran the Beatles' affairs in the U.S. and gave Tommy Bolin carte blanche to do Teaser the way he wanted, died on July 31 2013.
I'm eternally grateful to him.

Weiss, a divorce attorney who befriended Beatles manager Brian Epstein in 1964, was brought in by Epstein three years later after the band's relationship with Setlaeb ("Beatles" spelled backward), the group's original merchandising company, ended after accusations of financial impropriety and protracted litigation.

Lightyear Entertainment announces a new agreement with The Cyrkle to release new 2020 recordings of their huge pop hits of the 1960’s.
(Mark Lewisohn, renowned Beatle authority, was able to interview him extensively about a year and a half ago.)
This photo (taken by Bob Gruen, in the dressing room of the Other End on Bleecker Street, December 1978) is of me and my personal hero. After being suspended from Central High School for his hair being too long, then cutting it short, and still being suspended, Barb and Rich supported 16 year old Tommy in leaving Sioux City.
