Darul Iftaa New York answers questions on issues pertaining to Shari’ah. Mufti Saheb is the Khalifah of Mufti Mahmood Saheb Gangohi Rahimahullah.
In 2011, Mufti Ebrahim Desai Saheb moved to Durban permanently and laid the foundation for Darul Iftaa Mahmudiyyah, Sherwood, Durban.
His opinion shunning the transparency of Al Baraka Bank (South Africa) in Islamic finance activities has generated much discussion among the Muslim community in South Africa.[7]
In 2005, Desai was elected to the working committee of the South African Islamic Financial Services Authority (SAIFSA).[8]
He has said that jihad is acceptable against a country that doesn't allow the propagation of Islam to its inhabitants.[9]
Works
In relation to his work with issuing fatwas at his website Ask-Imam, Desai often finds himself in situations, where he sounds less like a religious leader and more like a physician's assistant or sex therapist[10] which helps a lot of people to reform and give up their wrong ways.

Mufti Ebrahim Desai completed his Qurān Memorization (Hifz) at Watervaal Islamic Institute (Miā’s Farm), South Africa.
The Darul Iftaa caters for many facilities under the supervision of Mufti Sahib. We make duaa that Allah Ta’ala in His infinite mercy grant Hazrat Mufti Sahib complete maghfirah, and give him the highest abode in Jannah; Jannatul Firdaws. Sharī῾ah Compliant Business Campaign which also initiated by Mufti Sahib in 2002 providing a conference to tackle contemporary business matters in Islamic Commerce and Finance.
Mufti Sahib has his weekly Thursday Majlis at Masjid Saaliheen, Sherwood, he also conducts discourses on Islamic Finance and commerce from Bukhari Sharif every Mondays at Musjid Noor, Ashervillle – Mallinson Road, Durban.
Mufti Sahib has visited Unites States, Canada, UK, China, Zambia, Malawi and other countries for almost 15 Years and delivered talks and lectures on various topics in Masājids, Universities and various institutes.
Mufti Ebrahim Sahib runs the world renowned Askimam.org website which serves over 123 countries in the world.
