Her parents kept their cultural roots alive despite living far from their homeland. This first taste of theater during her sophomore year lit a creative spark that would change her path.

Family life in Mississauga, Ontario, deeply shaped Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, whose parents, Ram Selvarajah and Kiruthiha Kulendiren, immigrated to Canada as Tamil refugees.
